Creating A Dining Room for Beth Dutton

Welcome back, Cowgirls! Now that we've shared some of our favorite coastal cowgirl dining room inspiration, we've got a treat for you - a dining room designed just for Beth Dutton! So, ride along with us as we create a space that exudes the rugged charm of the American West with the perfect infusion of coastal ambiance.

From Ranch To Reef - Creating the Right Dining Aesthetic

Any fan of the hit TV show Yellowstone knows that Beth Dutton never truly liked meals in the dining room. To her, it "represents a facade of family values" and she didn't want to keep pretending. It was only when Rip suggests they eat at another table that her perspective started to shift and frankly, we think Rip had the right idea.

The Dutton Ranch dining room, objectively, is dark and masculine. From the dark wood floors and log walls to the antler-adorned light fixtures and the traditional furniture, there is a distinct aesthetic to this family dining room. Creating the perfect space for Beth is going to come from honoring her experience here and reversing the vibe in her new space in a meaningful way, every coastal cowgirl deserves that!

In this little haven, rustic meets farmhouse modern for a light and bright feel that welcomes Beth for morning coffee by sunrise or late night whiskey chats. The focus here is on simple details, a sophisticated, neutral palette, and a traditional aesthetic with modern moments that creates a timeless look. Artwork, pattern, and texture all draw on the aesthetics of the American West, while the warm whites, light woods, and gentle contrast pull coastal vibes.

Inspired by the natural wonders of the Autumn season at both the beach and the ranch, we're striking the perfect balance of beauty, simplicity, tradition, and modern luxury. A primarily neutral palette, this space draws on the beiges and browns of the sandy shores, grazing fields, and majestic mountain-scape while the hues of copper leaves provide the perfect accent.

First Things First, The Feature Furniture

For this dining room, we're starting again with our anchor pieces - the dining room table, dining room chairs, and sideboard for storage. We're keeping the wood tones light here with this live edge wood table from Dovetail and the Hattie Sideboard. The live edge table adds a bit of that rustic expression in the furniture, while the details of the sideboard give it an heirloom aesthetic - as if Beth's own Granny Dutton passed it down to her. The Del Mar Southwestern chairs are a great option that provide for contrast, pattern and an allusion to that copper color we're using as an accent.

Now that the scene is set, it's about bringing in those feature accent moments - we've opted for this authentic hairless cowhide rug that brings a true piece of the West home. A farmhouse style chandelier anchoring the dining table and a Western landscape canvas adorning the wall provide a sense of symmetry between the ranch and reef.

A Tablescape Fit For a Cowgirl

Beth is a straightforward person with a get-it-done mentality and her decor style when it comes to her tablescape should be the same. Dishes, cups and linens can all be stored away in the Hattie Sideboard while to keep the dining table ready for work, whiskey, or dinner. We're bringing in the ultimate coordinating set of dishware and linens to create a look that feels coastal clean with a like rustic ranch.

Every cowgirl needs a good coffee mug, and these latte mugs are the perfect size for your favorite beverage of choice. The Bloomhouse Santorini dinnerware set is a wonderful accent to complement the mugs and add balance to the feature dinner plates selected for Beth.

Of course, we want to protect that beautiful tabletop with some coasters that meet the aesthetic level of this space. Saltsy's coaster collection brings texture and a variety of western patterns to the table, keeping the look interesting. We've opted to round out the look of the dining room by anchoring the tablescape with the Rustic Copper Currents collection table runner - the neutral tone is seamless with the light wood of the table, but provides contrasting white accents that bring it to life.

A Dining Room For Beth: Dinner At Last

Your dining room is more than just a place to eat, it's a gathering space for friends and family. We hope that this dining room design makes Beth Dutton want to enjoy more meals around the table than she did back at the Dutton Ranch.

We hope you've been enjoyed following along as we created this design just for Yellowstone's bold cowgirl, Beth Dutton and that it's inspired you to look at your own space in a new way. Even if you're a cowgirl through and through, there's always a place for the coast in your soul, and in your home.
